Bodies

All of our replicas come with handcrafted metal bodies and every body style we offer is patterned exactly after an original. Each car is crafted by artisans and hand formed into the beautiful shapes we know and love. We started by using digital measuring techniques to create a three dimensional computer model of the car. This model was then transferred to a large CNC mill that carved a precise full size master body buck.

Body panels are continually matched to the bucks during their forming under hammers and English wheels. That is the simple explanation, the reality is that it takes years and years of experience to gain the skill required to shape these bodies. The panels are then trimmed and again compared to the master buck to ensure accuracy. Once the panels have received their final shape they are gas welded together to form the complete body shell.

This shell is fitted to the frame and fine tuned to perfection. Some parts of the body are formed around the subframe. The body is then permanently secured to the frame with rivets. The interior aluminum panels are cut on a CNC sheet metal mill to ensure accuracy. These panels are formed and fitted to the interior to complete the body and frame assembly. The fact that so many of our customers choose not to paint their cars speaks volumes about the quality of our bodies. No paint or body filler to cover manufacturing flaws, just pure works of art.
