Your hood prop-rod should be attached to your car (possibly bolted on with a lesser-quality bolt). You might come across several of these “lesser-quality” bolts during the assembly. These bolts are used by the guys in Poland to temporarily fasten some parts (like the prop-rod) to the car. However, as you complete your car, you'll notice that all of these bolts will be replaced with aircraft quality bolts. Use some windex, water, or spit to lube the rubber boot, and then just slide it on the prop-rod. Like with the trunk prop-rod, don't tighten the bolt or the hinge will be stiff.
